Situations happen. Beautiful scenes appear. One challenge has always been how to be ready to shoot a picture quickly. Photo buffs would often carry a simple point-and-shoot everywhere just so they would never be caught without a camera and miss a shot. Luckily, our smartphone cameras have improved so much in recent years — and who goes anywhere without their smartphone?!
While the quality and features of a smartphone camera can’t compare to a DSLR (DSLR? For a future post…) or even a high-end point-and-shoot, you can get some astonishingly good pictures with most recent model iPhone or Android phones.
So you have a camera with you. Question is, are you always aware of it’s presence, so when something cute, funny, or beautiful happens, you react and grab it? And do you know the quickest way to get to your camera app? On most phones there is a way to activate the camera without even having to unlock the phone!
Are you comfortable with the various options and setting that your camera app includes? Most people are not, and that’s ok… but if you want to take advantage of all it can offer, take some time to experiment. subsequent posts here will delve into what many common settings do and why you might want to use (or avoid using) them.
So next time your eye triggers a warm-and-fuzzy feeling in your brain or heart, remember to grab your camera and capture what you’re seeing! And keep tuned to this blog for lots of tips on how to do that most effectively.
